Datuk Seri Tham Nyip Shen, aged 53, was born in Keningau, Sabah in 1958. After completing his O-levels, he furthered his education in England, UK and graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Manchester University in 1982. His professional career began at Sabah Electricity Board as a Consumer Service Engineer.

His political career, spanning more than 23 years, was illustrious. In April 1985, at the age of 26, Datuk Seri Tham was elected as the State Legislative Assemblyman for Elopura, Sandakan. Appointed as the Chairman of Sabah Urban Development Corporation in 1986, he subsequently led the Conceptual Development of Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) which developed the first ever government-owned, Sabah State-wide intranet in Malaysia. He also initiated KKIP Power Sdn Bhd, currently providing one of the best power supplies in Sabah. Subsequently he was appointed Chairman of Sabah Fish Market Agency in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Throughout his distinguished career, Datuk Seri Tham has held several key cabinet positions in the Sabah state government. In 1994, he was appointed Minister of Tourism and Environmental Development and also served as Chairman of Sabah National Parks. Duly appointed as Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah in 1996, a position which he held for seven years, he was also Minister of Industrial Development and became Chairman of Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park. The last post he held before retiring from politics was Minister of Resources and Information Technology.

He remained the State Assemblyman for Elopura, Sandakan for five consecutive terms until 2004. In 1994, he was instrumental in the formation of Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) where he held various party posts including Treasurer General, Secretary-General and in 1999, Deputy President of the party. From 1994-2004, he was also a member of the National Supreme Council of Barisan Nasional Malaysia.

After his retirement from active politics, Datuk Seri Tham was appointed as the Science Advisor for the State Government until he resigned in 2008.

In 2006, he co-founded Ecoglove Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd and owns the first automatic glove reprocessing technology in the world. This innovative project has attracted an investment from the State Government of Sabah.

Additionally, Datuk Seri Tham was involved in the development of Palm Oil Industrial Cluster in Sandakan as early as 1996. His family has been involved in the agricultural sector for more than 30 years. Besides managing a 10,000 acre oil palm plantation with a palm oil mill in Keningau, they are also involved in the timber business and dairy cattle farming. With the knowledge and experience he has acquired consistent with the future prospects of Palm Oil, he is a valuable asset to the company.

Datuk Peter K.S. Khoo, aged 59, is a very successful and dynamic businessman with more than 30 years of experience in the operation and management of businesses, ranging from timber, heavy equipment, trading in petroleum products, publishing, rubber and oil palm plantations.

A graduate in Commerce from Australia, Datuk Peter began his career as an Internal Auditor for Dairy Farmers Co-operative Ltd in 1976. The following year he returned to his home town of Sandakan, Sabah, to join the family business, a Group Holding Company with several associate and subsidiary companies.

The Group consists of:

  • Teck Heng Loong Bersaudara Sdn Bhd, holder of several timber concessions along the Kinabatangan River where logs are extracted and exported to Japan and also supply to the company’s own plywood factory, the output of which is exported to Europe.
  • Malaysia Tractor & Equipment Sdn Bhd, dealing in sales and servicing of heavy equipment such as International Harvester Tractors, Nissan Logging Trucks as well as being Sabah’s sole agent for Ford Motor Cars.
  • Syarikat Sabah Minyak Sdn Bhd, Sabah’s sole agent for Mobil Products including petrol, diesel and lubricants.
  • Syarikat Berita Harian, a publishing firm producing a local Chinese daily “Merdeka Daily News”.
  • Woodford Estates which holds a 10,000 acre rubber and oil palm plantation in Beaufort.

Datuk Peter served the Group as an Accountant from 1977 until 1980, at which point he was promoted to General Manager. In 1983 he was further elevated to Managing Director.

In the Group’s timber operation he was actively involved in overseeing the extraction of logs, and in the plywood factory he was understudying and assisting in the production of veneer and plywood. Furthermore, in the plantation sector, he was responsible for the organizing of planting and harvesting of rubber and oil palm.

During the course of his work with the Group, he was required to travel extensively throughout Sabah, promoting products from the various companies in the Group. He also undertook frequent trips to Japan and Europe to liaise and negotiate with timber and plywood buyers.

In 1987, upon securing a timber concession of 15,000 hectares from Sabah Forest Industry in Sipitang, he spearheaded the start-up and operation of the logging company based in Kota Kinabalu.

In addition, Datuk is also involved in construction and development industry through Fairgrand Development Sdn Bhd, the company that built Wisma Khoo Siak Chiew, the tallest building in Sandakan.

Though actively involved in his day to day business, Datuk still manages to find time to serve and hold key positions in various public and community organizations. He has served as President of the Sabah Golf & Country Club and Chairman of Parents & Teachers Association for several schools in Kota Kinabalu.

Datuk’s substantial experience and proven ability in giving the highest level of corporate management in all aspects of industry is evidently an asset to the future prospects of Palm Oil as well as in other fields of industry.

Dr. Jessie Tang, aged 43, obtained her medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in India in 1994. After graduating, she served in a Government Hospital for four years. After completing her compulsory Government service, she joined a health care management company in Kuala Lumpur where she was responsible for setting up and managing a chain of clinics. In 2003, Dr. Jessie teamed up with two partners and formed a company distributing nutritional products locally and regionally.

Dr. Jessie’s family was also involved in rubber and oil palm plantations. Although she chose a medical career, she has always been interested in getting involved in the agricultural sector once again. Due to her entrepreneurial spirit, leadership and vision for the future prospects of palm oil; she has been inspired to embark on the oil palm plantation business in East Malaysia.

Aside from oil palm plantations, Dr. Jessie is also the Director of a company that owns a 4,000 hectare rubber plantation in Sabah. The company is also involved in reforestation to preserve the environment for future generations. She is also a Director of several companies with businesses ranging from timber to development.

Dr. Jessie’s interest in the corporate world and her determination and drive to succeed are a key factors that will make this company grow and climb to greater heights.
